Science Writer and Editor, Arkansas Children's Hospital Research Institute

Phone: (501) 364-2469

Ms. Yount has led ACHRI’s science writing and editing support program for the institute’s researchers since the program began in 2002. This program provides writing and editing services for grant applications, journal manuscripts, and other scientific documents. She reviews extramural and intramural grant applications for ACHRI researchers providing suggestions to improve overall presentation of text, figures, and tables. In addition, Ms Yount edits basic and clinical research manuscripts and critiques the documents’ adherence to journal guidelines. Ms. Yount is the ACHRI Web site's Webmaster and is overseeing its update. She also designs and composes the institute’s annual Scientific Report.

Prior to her arrival at ACHRI, Ms. Yount worked four years for a contractor writing and editing toxicology and carcinogenicity study reports for the NIH/NIEHS National Toxicology Program. Reports from this series to which she contributed won awards from the Society for Technical Communication in its technical publications competitions. Ms. Yount also worked in immunoparasitology and genetics research for eight years at three large universities with responsibilities as a laboratory manager for a majority of that time.
