Stuart W. Stough

Research Information Systems Programmer

Mr. Stough became the Research Information Systems Programmer for the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute in 2007. In this role, he is dedicated full-time as a programmer for the Institute. Mr. Stough is involved in the development of the time and effort system for reporting of physician’s clinical and research efforts. He also is engaged in the development of a subject tracking system for clinical trials conducted through the Institute. Study coordinators will use the subject tracking system to verify completion of procedures and reconciliation of billing. Mr. Stough will lead the rebuilding of ACHRI’s grants database and management system increasing the ease of reporting information pertaining to submissions by and awards to the Institute’s many researchers. Mr. Stough also supports and maintains administrative programs and systems used by Institute staff and researchers.

Mr. Stough has over 10 years of experience in his information technology career. He worked as a computer technician and helpdesk operator for the Arkansas Department of Human Services briefly before joining the Arkansas Department of Information Systems. Initially a mainframe programmer, he contributed to the conversion of the Revenue Division’s paper-based system for vehicle license renewal to a fully automated process that was enhanced to include renewal by telephone and Internet. Mr. Stough also served as a change leader to assist the Arkansas Department of Information Systems to change its culture and improve its morale. He then worked as an advanced programmer designing, developing, and maintaining web-based applications. After 8 years with the State of Arkansas, Mr. Stough worked for 2 years at an information management company as an Internet and software developer providing support to its clients in the financial services industry. Mr. Stough then joined Arkansas Children’s Hospital in 2006 as a programmer. He developed and enhanced web-based applications for the hospital including a dashboard to monitor hundreds of job, security cameras, touch screens, and back office applications. Mr. Stough has earned an associate’s degree in computer programming from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and a bachelor’s degree in business information systems from John Brown University.
