In November of 2004, Ms. Montgomery became the Research Account Administrator at ACHRI. Her primary responsibility is to manage the electronic system used by ACHRI administration and research teams to administer the financial aspects of grants. Daily, she reviews purchases, check requests and balances for over 150 accounts with regards to award and Institute guidelines. When ACHRI administration staff or investigators or their staffs suggest a modification to the system, she acts as the liaison between them and the Systems Development Group. Since her arrival at ACHRI, Ms. Montgomery has implemented 90-day account review meetings. In this meeting she meets with an investigator as the end of a budget period approaches to reconcile electronic system and accounting figures and to project remaining award funds. In addition to these duties, Ms. Montgomery assists with the ACHRI administrative budget. Ms. Montgomery is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in Arkansas and has a degree in accounting from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Prior to accepting the position at ACHRI, she was involved in public accounting for five years. She provided assistance, including corporate tax services, to small businesses. Her professional experience also includes responsibility as the purchasing manager for a vending firm. Ms. Montgomery is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Arkansas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Society of Research Administrators, and the National Council of University Research Administrators. |
