Aljavan Martin, Jr.

ACHRI Facilities and Equipment Manager

Mr. Martin became ACHRI’s Facilities and Equipment Manager in May 2007. He works directly with ACH support departments and outside contractors for maintenance related to facilities and equipment on the research campus. Mr. Martin maintains an inventory of research equipment and assists research faculty and staff with the acquisition, service, and preventative maintenance of new research equipment. For construction, renovation, and relocation of laboratories, his responsibilities include working with ACH Facilities in order to provide pricing of projects and to coordinate project schedules and serving as a liaison with subcontractors and vendors. In addition to maintenance issues, he also works with ACH support departments and outside contractors to ensure day-to-day operations of ACHRI remain at a professional and effective level. Mr. Martin is the institutional official responsible for assuring that research faculty and staff perform their work in a safe environment and that all safety rules and regulations are followed. Mr. Martin will be working under the direction of the Director of Animal Research and ACHRI Facilities Operations on special projects to ensure continued efficient operation of ACHRI facilities.

Mr. Martin has two decades of experience with facilities and equipment projects and contract management from his 24 years of service in the US Air Force. As a construction project manager in the Air Force, his assignments were on established bases as well as at remote locations worldwide. He managed various contracts for civil and electrical engineering, drafting and surveying, and environmental services. He also was a medical technician in the Air Force and earned the rank of Master Sergeant. Mr. Martin has earned an associate’s degree in Construction Technology from the Community College of the Air Force and a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Management from Colorado Christian University.
