In December of 2005, Mr. Gregan became a member of ACHRI’s science writing and editing support program for the Institute’s researchers. He provides writing and editing services for grant applications, journal manuscripts, and other scientific documents. He reviews extramural and intramural grant applications for ACHRI researchers providing suggestions to improve overall presentation of text, figures, and tables. Mr. Gregan also edits basic and clinical research manuscripts and critiques the documents’ adherence to journal guidelines. He reviews and provides content for the ACHRI Web site as requested including researcher and administrative profiles. He is currently developing a plan for providing increased writing and proposal preparation training to meet the needs of ACHRI researchers. These efforts include gathering grant writing resources, providing newsletter articles, and raising awareness of ACHRI’s writing and grant application preparation services. He also assists with the design and composition of the Institute’s annual Scientific Report. Mr. Gregan has over 18 years of experience as a technical communicator. He previously worked for the contracted fiscal agent for Arkansas Medicaid overseeing production and distribution of billing information on printed and electronic media to its 18,000 providers for 5 years. He also created design and text for the account’s web-based annual report winning awards from the Society for Technical Communication in its online publications competitions. For 13 years, Mr. Gregan worked for a pharmaceutical consulting firm directing and performing quality assurance audits for human and veterinary drugs. He also oversaw audit and corrective action activities for clients under the FDA’s Application Integrity Policy. Other duties included administrative and writing and editing assignments including contributions to toxicology reports for the National Toxicology Program. Reports from this series won awards from the Society for Technical Communication in its technical publications competitions. Since 1997, Mr. Gregan has taught technical writing and composition courses for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and for Pulaski Technical College. He has a master’s degree in Technical and Expository Writing from UALR and a bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Eureka College.
