Nursing Research Department
At Arkansas Children’s Hospital, research and evidence-based practice are among the ways nurses provide care, love, and hope to the children and families we serve. The Nursing Research Department provides support to nursing staff conducting research at ACH.

Research and EBP Courses
Research and EBP for Beginners
This two-part course helps staff understand the basics of conducting small projects and gives them tools to help them get started. During the first four-hour class, participants learn the basics of research and the steps of the EBP process. The second four-hour course is a hands-on computer class where participants learn the basics of searching the literature using a PICOT question to guide them. We offer this course quarterly for all interested clinical personnel.
Nursing Research Special Topics
This series of 1-hour classes builds on the content of Research and EBP for Beginners or focuses on a specific topic area. Topics have included "Abstract Preparation", "The IRB", "Writing for Publication", and "Evidence-Based Practice: The Future is Now". The series is open for all clinical personnel.
This 5-month program focuses on assisting staff to develop an EBP project and to become mentors for EBP in their clinical area. We offer the EBP Academy twice annually. Discuss your interest in enrolling in the EBP Academy with your Director and Angela Green.

The committee meets every other month to plan research and EBP education and to discuss relevant EBP and research issues. The group also provides support to staff interested in and/or conducting research and EBP projects.
