At Arkansas Children’s Hospital, research and evidence-based practice are among the ways nurses provide care, love, and hope to the children and families we serve. The Nursing Research Department provides support to nursing staff conducting research at ACH.

Research and EBP Courses
Evidence-based Practice for Beginners
This 4-hour class provides an introduction to evidence-based practice tools and techniques and how to use them to improve practice. This class is offered every three month for all interested clinical personnel.
Searching the Literature for Beginners
This 4-hour hands-on course teaches how to search scholarly databases using a PICOT question as a guide. This course meets quarterly and is open to all interested clinical personnel.
Nursing Research Special Topics
This series of 1-hour classes builds on the content of Research and EBP for Beginners or focuses on a specific topic area. Topics include "IRB Expert Panel Discussion on Submission and Review Processes," "Navigating CLARA," "Reading the Research and Quality Cross Roads." The series is open for all clinical personnel.
Introduction to Research
This three session course guides and instructs participants in the fundamentals of research, utilizing lectures, and hands-on experiences in SPSS and a mock research project.
This is an interdisciplinary drop-in workshop to assist staff in writing abstracts for poster and podium conference submissions.
Clinical Research Record Keeping
This interdisciplinary workshop focuses on the record keeping role and responsibilities of the Clinical Research Coordinator. This course is offered twice a year for all interested personnel.

Nursing Research Committee
Staff nurses, clinical nurse specialists, nurse practitioners, and nursing education specialists from throughout ACH and representatives from ACHRI and UAMS comprise the Nursing Research Committee. The committee meets every other month to plan research and EBP education and to discuss relevant EBP and research issues. The group also provides support to staff interested in and/or conducting research and EBP projects. If you are interested participating in the Nursing Research Committee, speak with your Director and Angela Green.
