Research Overview |
Dr. Woods received her medical degree from UAMS in 2000 and completed a Pediatrics residency in 2003. Dr. Woods completed fellowship training in Adolescent Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2006 where she also completed a MS in Clinical Research. After a year as a clinic instructor at IU, Dr. Woods joined the UAMS faculty in July 2007 where she is a member of the Section of Adolescent Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics. Dr. Woods’ primary research interest focuses on adolescent sexual behaviors, sexually transmitted infections, and contraceptive usage patterns. She is especially interested in diagnosis and treatment of pelvic inflammatory disease in outpatient settings at ACH. Dr. Woods is also working with Dr. Amy Scurlock of Pediatric Allergy/Immunology and the ACHRI Chlamydia Research Group in her efforts to develop a translational program for evaluating chlamydia infections in adolescent women. Dr. Woods also enjoys the opportunities that her clinical duties in the Adolescent Center bring as well as teaching residents and students.
