Research OverviewDr. Graham’s research goals include improved emergency care and injury prevention for children. He recently published an article with ACHRI and UAMS colleagues based on a survey of 2,137 public schools on their preparedness for mass-casualty events. Dr. Graham has completed a similar study of ambulance services for their preparedness for mass casualties, specifically the care of children. For the Arkansas Department of Health and Human Services, he has reviewed and revised ambulance equipment lists for pediatric appropriateness and has conducted outreach education to paramedics regarding the emergency care of children. In the area of pediatric injury prevention, Dr. Graham’s interest involves the second leading cause of trauma admissions to ACH - all-terrain vehicles (ATVs). He has developed and evaluated community-level intervention regarding ATV safety. He continues this research by developing an ATV-safety module to be added to the state-required hunter education program for youth and a mechanism to track the impact of the new module. In addition to these current research activities, Dr. Graham is involved in the development of medical education research efforts at ACHRI and UAMS.
