Research Overview

Dr. Horacio Gómez-Acevedo is an instructor in the Department of Pediatrics, Section of Gastroenterology, Nutrition, and Hepatology. Dr. Gómez-Acevedo received his doctorate degree from the University of Alberta, Canada, in the area of Mathematical Biology. His research includes the modeling of the infection of CD4+ T cells by the Human T-cell Leukemia Virus Type I (HTLV-I). In collaboration with Drs. Kathleen Gilbert and Sarah Blossom, Dr. Gómez-Acevedo is modeling the autoimmune reactions triggered by a continuous exposure to toxicants.
