Research OverviewDr. Bhutta’s research interests include the effects of inflammation and pain in the neonatal period on the developing brain. In December 2005, he received a research grant from the Heartland Affiliate Research Committee of the American Heart Association to study Ketamine as a neuroprotective agent in children undergoing surgery on cardiopulmonary bypass. The two-year grant will allow investigators to perform laboratory investigations and MRI studies to answer questions raised in the study.
