Research Overview
Dr. Andres is an Investigator at the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center and an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition at UAMS. Dr. Andres’ research is focused on optimizing pediatric nutrition to prevent childhood and adult diseases. Her primary interest centers on the programming of childhood and adult obesity during pregnancy and in early life. She collaborates with Dr. Kartik Shankar to provide a true translational approaches to the understanding and potential prevention of the developmental origins of childhood and adult obesity. Additionally, Dr. Andres’ research includes comprehensive studies of the effect of early nutrition and diet on development and body composition in infants and children. These studies are conducted in collaboration with Dr. Badger. Dr. Andres received her PhD in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
